Sakho rushed to hospital - Update 29th Oct
Sakho rushed to hospital

Dafra Sakho was rushed to hospital after his tangle with Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.

The striker was left holding his shoulder and clearly in a lot of pain, leaving manager Sam Allardyce very worried about the extent of the injury.

That won’t be known until the results of the scan are produced but ClaretandHugh was told tonight that the player is “very sore at the moment.”

We have learned the problem occurred when Hart kicked him on his collarbone and shoulder, leaving an anxious , Allardyce, coaching staff medical staff fearing a serious problem.

We were told: “We hope nothing is broken, but he was taken to hospital right after the game.”

Sakho injury update

Diafra Sakho’s injury problem amounts to heavy bruising and he retains a 30 per cent chance of making it into the squad for the weekend match at Stoke.

The good news for him and the club this morning is that scans have shown no ligament damage.

Sources claim he retains an outside chance of making the squad although would be highly unlikely to start.

We were told: “The kid is so whole-hearted and enthusiastic. It’s so refreshing to find a player like this. Too many over worry about injuries but this lad would run through walls for the cause.”

Mauro Zarate has now recovered from a slight pull in his groin and it is likely the choice to partner Enner Valencia will be between the Argentinian and Kevin Nolan.

A source told us: “But with the captain having the edge in fitness he looks the more likely starter.

James Tomkins is also fully fit but after his great game against Manchester City, James Collins is set to get the nod to continue at the heart of defence with Winston Reid

We were told this morning that scans on Sakho’s shoulder area showed no ligament damage and that he would be fully fit for the match against Aston Villa

Haha - fair shout YM!

To be fair the problem for Valencia on his own up front today was having no service. Downing being pushed wide didn't work. Still think Valencia can do a job on his own up front, did it against Man City the week before. Must admit he did look better when Cole came on though.

I can see Sakho getting 60 mins like Valencia against burnley.

I don't think the starting XI will change unless essential

I'm only 35, but have a similar take on being optimistic about West Ham. The last time we had a squad this good we went down under Roeder!!

That said, the way everything's come together this year...you must admit Sir Alf, its looking pretty good?

"As a 55 year veteran" you shouldn't be typing messages with smiley/miserable faces on them.

As the resident WHO curmudgeon, I must remind you (yeah I know you already know this alreday but please humour an old twat if you can ;-) ), that the planets are aligned. Stoke have injury issues, a psychologically damaging defeat at the end of their league cup tie, they also have a few days recovery. West Ham, on the other hand, have an almost fit squad, even the star striker may be available, 3 wins on the spin, talk of good times and even European qualification,,,

As a 55 year veteran of all things West Ham, this can mean only one thing..... DEFEAT this Saturday :-(

I have tried an Exorcist to rid me of my negativity when it comes to my beloved team but alas no. I have seen too many false dawns and years of underachievement to be confident of anything yet :-)

I'm hoping they are as physical as Kompany as they probably wont get his 2nd yellow immunity

To be fair, looking at Stoke this season. Huth's not been playing, they've been playing Wilson (a right back) at CB and I don't think they're as physical as they were under Pulis.

Personally I'd love to see Valencia up against Shawcross. Shawcross is not only slow over the ground, but very slow on the turn. Valencia will skin him if it comes down to a one on one.

Do people really believe that top pros aren't excessively physical whether they're at stoke or Barcelona?

Re: Sakho rushed to hospital - Update 29th Oct
Yeah, to be fair, Kompany wasn't very physical last weekend....

Re: Sakho rushed to hospital - Update 29th Oct
Obama, I know what your saying, I just think Stoke's defenders will be more physical, Cole will give them a battle, hopefully drawing their attention from Valencia.

Either way, I can't fkin wait!

Re: Sakho rushed to hospital - Update 29th Oct
Allardyce said in his pre-match interview that Sakho was at 50/50 (up from 30%) to start against Stoke and Allardyce also mentioned that another 48 hours till the game is a lot of recovery time.

Which sounds like Sakho will be at 75-80% on Saturday to start. Even on the bench he'd pose a threat when coming on in the second half.

Stoke's squad is pretty depleted for Saturday while we have a nearly full squad available. This might be the perfect game for Cole or Nolan to partner Valencia.

Did you see the game at the weekend where Valencia was the focal point of our attack and we beat Man City 2-1?

Sorry mean to say Valencia will be NEVER the focal point of our attacks. Hence Cole in the middle.
